Studies in Judeo-Christian Thought Monograph Series
June will see the release of the first two volumes of SCS Press’s new scholarly series – Studies in Judeo-Christian Monograph Series (SJCTMS), edited by Cory M. Marsh. The series exists to platform exceptional conservative biblical, historical, and theological scholarship that maintains Scripture’s divine inspiration, inerrancy, and authority. Being a peer-reviewed monograph series, the SJCTMS aims to feature the highest caliber of academic standards, and as such, serves the scholarly community with premier research that advances knowledge in the academy.
June 2025 Releases:
Vol. 1 – Brent A. Belford, Paul’s Fusion of Scripture: Analyzing Pauline Literary Techniques, Hermeneutics, and Theology in Composite Quotations (June 5)
- Challenging the limitations of existing scholarship, Belford addresses the understudied phenomenon of Paul’s literary technique of “fusing” multiple source texts in citations of Scripture. He argues that while Paul shares literary similarities with outside contemporaries, he uniquely joins multiple citations of Scripture together to articulate distinctly Christian theological perspectives.
Vol 2. – Ryan E. Meyer, “This Generation” in Matthew 24:34 and the New Exodus (June 12).
- Examining the meaning of γενεά in Matthew 24:34, Meyer argues the phrase “this generation” refers to Israel viewed collectively as unfaithful to God. The study also demonstrates that Matthew intertwines his references to this transtemporal meaning for γενεά with other Old Testament quotations, allusions, and echoes of Israel’s eschatological new exodus, promised in Deuteronomy 30–32.
