Biography

James Fazio is an alumnus of Southern California Seminary, where he currently serves as Dean of Bible and Theology. James has been in the field of education for most of his life, beginning as a para-educator for the San Diego Unified City School District, teaching English and History courses at Bell Middle School (1995-2000) and at Serra High School (2000-2005). In 2010 James began teaching undergraduate biblical studies classes at Southern California Seminary. Today James teaches courses in hermeneutics, theology, and apologetics. In 2012 he helped launch the Center for Creation Studies (now Center for Apologetics) at SCS.

James has been married to his wife Amy for 20 years. They have four children together whom they homeschool. As much as James loves teaching the Bible his even greater passion is teaching others how to read and understand the Bible for themselves. His passion for training Church leaders stretches outside of the U.S., as seen through his sustained involvement in international Church leadership organizations such as Uganda Ministries, where he has served as President for 10 years, and White Fields, where he sits on the board of directors. He is actively working with SCS alumni in an effort to begin a pastor training school in the community of Rukungiri in Western Uganda.

In his downtime, James can be found playing strategy games competitively with his brother, Stephen: Before we had kids we used to make trips to LA to compete in the national tournaments.
